Chapter 8,9,10 The boy in the striped pajamas

CHAPTER 8
Mother and Father have had bumps in their relationship since Father became a Nazi official. They have had fights over moving to the Auschwitz. Bruno and Gretel have a normal sibling relationship. They fight over things and Gretel pushes Bruno around since she is older. Grandmother and Father have had a bad relationship lately. Grandmother stormed out of Auschwitz when she saw the monster that Father had become. Mother is jealous of Grandmother, because she used to perform as a singer. Grandmother and Grandfather have a good relationship with each other and they get along well. They do have mixed feelings about how to deal with Father though.

CHAPTER 9
Bruno has changed while at Auschwitz, because he has stopped asking why they have to stay there and has accepted it. He has also changed, because he has started to break more rules at Auschwitz, such as going to the concentration camp. He also has started to wonder more and more about the concentration camp and what goes on there.

CHAPTER 10
Shmuel and Bruno are similar and different in many ways. Bruno and Shmuel have different religions. They both are have different clothes. Bruno and Shmuel are also similar in many ways, because they both were born on the same day. They are also looking for other kids to play with

Harry is making a deal with griphook to let Ron and hermione into gringotts and get the horcrux from Bellatrix's fault. Harry has to give up the sword of Gryffindor to Griphook in order to get the vault. Hermione doesn't like the idea of giving over the sword even though they found it in a forest that they were camping in. Harry found out from Olivander that Dumbledore had the elder wand and not Gregorovitch. This reminded me when I wanted to know what I wanted for christmas but my mom didn't tell me and I found it on Christmas day.

Harry is with the accomplice of Dumbledore's to receive the sword of gryffindor. The accomplice turns into Voldemort's snake, Nagini. Nagini Tries to capture Harry for Voldemort to kill Harry. Harry yells for Hermione and she comes running to harry. They disapparate to hidden location where a white doe leads them to the sword of gryffindor

chapter 6

Maria’s role in the family is that she is a maid who Father took in. 

Her mother got sick and went to the hospital. 

Father paid for all the hospital bills and when she died, he paid for the funeral.

It seems as if Father’s character used to be positive, but now he is becoming a terrible person by working for the Nazis.

Chapter 4 and 5 Blog post

Bruno is concerned about the children at the camp behind his house and wants to help them, while his attitude starts to slowly change as you read. Bruno’s new home is in Auschwitz, because they are saying Outwith and that sounds like Auschwitz. I would hate living there, because I would hate to see people suffering at the concentration camp. Bruno and Gretel are naive and innocent, because Bruno thinks that Heil Hitler means, “Have a nice day.”

Chapter 2 and 3 questions

These new people in the house are soldiers and servants. We know that these new people are soldiers that work for Father, because Maria says they are.

Bruno saw a concentration camp out of his window with Jewish people.

Bruno and Gretel’s relationship is a common sibling relationship, because they fight a lot and make fun of each other.

Bruno is innocent and naive, because he doesn’t know why they moved. He also wants to go visit the children in the concentration camp and he doesn’t know he would get in huge trouble for that, because his father is a Nazi official.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione had went to see Xenophilius lovegood to find out what a certain symbol meant. Mr. Lovegood had told them it was the the sign of the deathly hallows, and together they make the master of death. Hermione had read the tales of the 3 brothers and how they got the deathly hallows to begin with. The first Brother got a wand that would beat any other wand in the world. The 2nd brother got a stone that would bring back the dead. The final brother got an invisibility cloak.

Harry had used Voldemort's name and death eaters had surrounded him, Ron and Hermione. The 3 were searched and the death eaters thought they found different people other than Harry, Ron and Hermione. When the death eaters had found a newspaper in the tent they thought it was Hermione because of the picture that was in it. The death eaters brought Harry, Ron and Hermione to the Malfoy manner where they will summon the dark lord to kill harry and his friends. This reminds of how I had to go to place where I didn't want to go and my parents forced me to go with them.

Helmuth in the beginning

Helmuth likes Hitler and the Nazis. You can see this because he doesn't know why Opa and Oma don't like Hitler, who helped Germany by being chancellor. Helmuth likes Jews but he does not understand why Hitler is hating on them. When Helmuth is older he wants to be a soldier. He is really patriotic toward Germany. Helmuth always played with his soldiers and he always made sure that Germany always won.

Helmuth Final thoughts

Helmuth - I think Helmuth was very brave during this event and all he wanted to do was get revenge on Hitler. Helmuth knew what he was doing before anybody else knew what was going to happen. Helmuth had stradegy smartness and technique to get by the guards and he wanted revenge no matter how bad the punishment was. He also knew how to back himself up, defend other and make it look like everything was his fault right from the beginning.

Hans- The Jewish man Helmuth saw getting beat up in the street by Nazi soldiers.

Gerhald-The Rottenfuhrer, who is somebody Helmuth used to wish for in his life, but his mind changes.

Mutti-The person who should almost always take Helmuth’s side, but doesn’t anymore because silence is easier than choosing sides.

Oma-Helmuth’s grandmother.

Opa-An older member of Helmuth’s family who thought Hitler was a lunatic to begin with, but goes along with the ideas now for safety reasons after the burning of the Reichsteg.

Hugo-One of Helmuth’s best friends from the Mormon church.

Brother Worbs- The Morman man from church who speaks his mind, regardless of the punishment.  

Karl-One of Helmuth’s others best friends who agreed to be a detective with him and ended up having a scare with a Gestapo.

Rudi-Helmuth’s friend from school who was singled out for being Jewish.

Benno Selligman-Helmuth’s oldest brother who serves the Fatherland as a shipmaker.

Herr Selligman-Helmuth’s middle brother who is able to balance the ideas of church and government.  He serves his country as a soldier because his church tells him he must follow the laws even though he doesn’t really believe in all that the Nazi regime stands for.

Harry gets the sword from the frozen pond but is trapped underneath the pond. The horcrux that harry was wearing on his neck was preventing from reaching air. The necklace was then choking Harry and a hand reached down to save Harry. Harry asked who it was because he couldn't see without his glasses on. Harry grabbed his glasses and saw that Ron had came back to help.
